Wondering if we're going to try to conform to a sort of gold standard of posting
i.e.
a particular perspective or tense
internal monologues yes/no
use of italics, bold, etc

Meh. While it would be nice, it doesn't really seem neccesary if you ask me.

Perferably third person so we know who is talking and doing things.

Aye, third person past tense is my preference.

I use italics for thoughts.

Posting Uniformity/Style Guide, RP Talk Board
Nihtgenga stood up. Evidently, he had something to say. "Right then, guys. Here's what I think." He was silent, but the other posters could read his thoughts. First, there's the location tags to consider. I like to use bold normal sized headings saying where my character is. If it needs extra clarification, I 'zoom out' from the exact location, getting more general with each comma. Posting style, as has been agreed, is best in third person past tense. He smiled. "Thought is best italicised, and differing sound levels- whispering, shouting, could be done with differing text sizes, but I find this can lead to confusion as to the exact voice level. In my opinion, 'ALL CAPS FOR SHOUTING' just looks bad. Instead, I reckon 'he whispered' or 'she yelled' is best." He shook his head. When he resumed talking, it was in Swahili. <"Those pointy bracket things, whose real name I forget, are used traditionally as 'auto=translators'. The character's foreign speech is written in English inside these and unless their characters can understand that language, they do not use any information provided by the foreign-speaking character. That's just simple good RPing.">
Nihtgenga pressed a button and a pre-recorded message played: "ONE POSSIBLE USE FOR ALL CAPS IS FOR ELECTRONIC SPEECH SUCH AS PRE-RECORDED MESSAGES IN ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT."
((And of course any OOC stuff goes in the good old fashioned double brackets.))
"I think that's everything covered. Anyone have anything to add, or disagree with me on any of these points? All this is, after all, just a suggestion based on what I do."
Nihtgenga sat back down.

First person tends to confuse the reader what's going on. Cheez made a nice couple o'paragraphs of what I like to do.

I post like a story, eg David smiled Those fools don't know anything. He reached down and picked up his gun.
I might try it like this thought
David smiled
David: Sounds good to me.
[glow=red,2,300]Maybe for magic we should use glow[/glow]
for inside monos we use italics
And for places we use ==Bold Place Name Here==
That how I've always done it
